This is a molten glass on wood candle holder and ashtray, a chunky 23cm piece of hand-blown recycled glass fused over a solid base of reclaimed Balinese gamal wood.
Each one is made by hand in Indonesia. Molten recycled glass is blown while still hot and allowed to relax directly over the gamal wood, settling into the natural grain and contours as it cools. The result is thick, flowing curves and a clear textured glass well that catches the light. Because the glass is shaped by hand and never forced into a mould, every piece is genuinely one of a kind, with its own shape, ripples and character.

Care
Hand wash only with warm water and a soft cloth, then dry straight away. Do not put any piece in the dishwasher, microwave or oven. Avoid soaking the wood or leaving it in standing water, and keep it out of prolonged direct sunlight to protect the colour. A little food-safe oil now and then keeps the wood looking its best.
